You are kindly informed to welcome Hotel Management students Ms. Sema Etiz, Ms. Maysoon Khan, Ms. Beyza Nur Özşen, Mr. Oğuzhan Elma and Mr. Nafi Sürmeli who participated in the CHRIE Smith Travel Research (STR) Market Study Competition as the guest speakers of the seminar series with their market study on Istanbul city.

STR Inc. is a member of the CoStar Group and offers insightful competitive data for the hotel industry all over the world. CHRIE is a well-established tourism education council that includes not only academics who teach in educational institutions worldwide in the field of hospitality and lodging but also industry stakeholders as members. STR and CHRIE organize a competition every year for higher education students to develop their awareness of the industry dynamics and improve their knowledge and skills on hotel analytics. This year, for the third time, our Hotel Management students represented our university at this exciting event in the EMEA region and were awarded “Honorable Mansion” among the top hospitality higher education institutions in the region. They prepared a very detailed market study project on the city of Istanbul under their advisor, Asst. Prof. Dr. H. Kader Şanlıöz-Özgen, and presented their study before a jury of professional partners in Europe. This year's event was organized online on 8 November 2024, with the participation of seven universities in total from various EMEA countries.
In the seminar class, our Hotel Management Department students Ms. Sema Etiz, Ms. Maysoon Khan, Ms. Beyza Nur Özşen, Mr. Oğuzhan Elma, and Mr. Nafi Sürmeli, who participated in the STR competition, will present on "Market Study for Istanbul City."
