The International Relations Department invites you to a public talk titled Bridging Democracies: India’s Role in Global Governance. The event is part of the Jean Monnet Center of Excellence BRIDGE project. The session will be opened by Prof. Evren Balta and moderated by Dr. Samarjit Ghosh. Mr. Mijito Vinito, Consul General of India, will share insights on the role of India in international politics, global governance, and democratic cooperation.

About the Speaker
Shri Mijito Vinito is a career diplomat in the Indian Foreign Service. He joined the service in 2010 and has served in key diplomatic roles both in India and abroad. His overseas assignments include a posting in the Republic of Korea from 2012 to 2017, where he worked as the Commercial Officer responsible for bilateral trade and economic relations between India and Korea.

From 2020, he served in the Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations in New York. During this period, India held a seat on the United Nations Security Council, and he was part of the Indian team for issues concerning Central and Horn of Africa. His work included sanctions and the working methods of the Security Council. He also served as the Head of Chancery. After the Council term, he worked on matters related to the Second Committee of the United Nations until August 2023.

In the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, he worked in the West Asia North Africa Division in 2012 and later served as Deputy Secretary for Foreign Service Personnel and Cadre from 2017 to 2020.
