Mechanical Engineering PhD Student Merdan Batyrov Awarded TÜBİTAK Performance-Based Scholarship

Merdan Batyrov, a PhD student in the Mechanical Engineering Program at Özyegin University, was awarded the performance-based scholarship under the TÜBİTAK BIDEB 2250 Performance-Based Scholarships Program for PhD and Post-Doc Scholars in September 2024. Batyrov earned this prestigious recognition due to his exceptional performance in the BIDEB 2232 International Fellowship for Outstanding Researchers Program, in which he participated as a scholar from 2020 to 2023 under the coordination of Assistant Prof. Hande Öztürk.

Batyrov’s doctoral research focuses on the diffraction theory of nanocrystals and the adaptation of X-ray diffraction techniques to nanocrystals. In his studies, Batyrov models gold nanocrystals through atomic simulations and analyzes how the characteristic surface structure of these crystals affects diffraction data. He is currently working on experimentally validating his theoretical research.
