13th Edition of the Sustainable Local and Rural Development Expert Training Certification Program Held on Our Campus

In line with Özyeğin University’s mission to deliver sustainable education at the service of society, the 13th edition of the “Sustainable Local and Rural Development Expert Training Certification Program” was held on Çekmeköy campus between August 25 and 29, 2025.

Organized jointly by Hüsnü M. Özyeğin Foundation and Özyeğin University and held under the theme of “Cooperatives in Local and Rural Development,” the program explored key topics including “Rural Development in National and Regional Development Plans,” “The Role of Cooperatives in Solving Current Issues of Turkish Agriculture,” “Support Ecosystems for Strong Cooperatives,” “Cooperatives, Social Networks, and Social Transformation,” and “Roadmaps for Türkiye’s Cooperatives in Light of National and International Experiences.”

A total of 31 people participated in the program, including 10 from the Ministry of Industry and Technology, 7 from the private sector engaged in mining activities, 7 from CSOs, and 7 individual applications. The program offered a rich lineup of events from lectures and panels by 21 educators, experts, and distinguished academics, representatives of international organizations, local public institutions, civil society, and cooperatives, who provided training and shared their experiences. Also, there were 3 technical on-site visits to agricultural development cooperatives operating in Bursa.
