Understanding and Evaluating the Writing Process with Turnitin Clarity

As generative AI (GenAI) tools become increasingly widespread, understanding students’ writing processes and maintaining academic integrity have become more important than ever. To support instructors in this context, we are organizing a training session on Turnitin Clarity, a new academic integrity tool that makes the entire writing process visible—not only the final submission.

In this session, we will explore how the Turnitin Clarity extension in Turnitin Feedback Studio can help instructors analyze how an assignment was written and encourage students to use AI tools responsibly.

In this session, we will cover:

• Tracking the writing process: How to analyze students’ active writing time, copy–paste patterns, and revision history
• Writing playback: How to review the evolution of a document from the first draft to the final version
• Fair assessment: How to use available evidence to engage in constructive, evidence-based conversations with students when AI use is suspected
• Single-panel management: How to manage similarity reports, AI indicators, and writing analytics within one interface
