Dr. Derya Deniz from the Department of Civil Engineering Awarded Fulbright Visiting Scholar Grant

Dr. Derya Deniz has been awarded a Fulbright Visiting Scholar grant and will spend part of her sabbatical at Lehigh University, USA, working on her project titled “Regional Assessment of Business Continuity in Industrial Zones after Multi-Hazard Disasters Considering Lifeline Network Disruptions.”

The project builds on Dr. Deniz’s previous TÜBİTAK 3501 project on industrial structures and the 2023 field studies in the Maraş region. It employs network analyses to evaluate the continuity of infrastructure and transportation systems in industrial zones and aims to develop regional business continuity models for industrial areas under earthquake and flood hazards.

The findings are expected to contribute to disaster preparedness, resilient business continuity planning, insurance premium assessments, and regional risk reduction strategies for industrial zones.
